Google Latitude & Gears

Latitude is a Google program that works for mobile-phone to know the location around you now more than that can also be used to track the presence of friends in the vicinity of your location and deliver a message to them immediately through SMS, IM or a phone call.

If you are not currently traveling, Google latitude can also be installed on the computer to see your friends all over the map screen and associated with them.

So that your location is automatically detected, Latitude and Google Gears (which required as additional program) requires a wireless access or access to a WiFi access point to use Google WiFi location data. Your location will be updated when the gadget is in the window or tab is active on your computer.
Follow the steps below:
- Please first create your iGoogle homepage (in the upper right corner of the page http://www.google.com/)
- Add Google Latitude into iGoogle hompage from Google Latitude
- InstallĀ Gears from http://gears.google.com/
- Allow permission for Gears instllation into iGoogle
- Make sure you’ve allowed the gadget to detect your location in the Privacy tab. You may need to refresh the iGoogle.
Your location will be updated when the window or tab that is active on your computer. You can always change your privacy settings at any time from the privacy menu.
Gears can not detect your location if:
- You do not have access to the wireless access point or WiFi. Google relies on a database Latitude location of the Google WiFi to detect your location.
- Your WiFi access location is not in the Google database. The scope of the specific location may be different and does not complete. More info here.
